In the field breast radiology I have developed methods for validating registration algorithms, using simulation of the X-ray imaging process, applied these techniques to the evaluation of non-rigid registration of X-ray mammograms and contributed components of this code to the Insight Toolkit (ITK.org). Most recently I have supervised a team of researchers and PhD students developing and validating multi-modal breast image methods to aid breast cancer diagnosis, characterisation and surgical planning. I have contributed to a number of successful breast grant applications (funded by the EPSRC, the Technology Strategy Board and most recently the EU FP7 Virtual Physiological Human ICT scheme) and collaborate with prominent industrial partners including Philips Technologie Gmbh, Dexela Ltd, Carestream Health Inc. and DePuy.
