The RMS Error plugin provides a visual display of the RMS error between a fixed point set and a transformed moving point set. This is most useful when you want to measure some form of registration accuracy.
The plugin uses the notion of a Fixed point set (towards which you have registered something else) and a Moving point set (the one that has been registered to the fixed one). In most cases, the Fixed point set is an intra-operatively measured point set based on landmarks. The Moving point set would be a pre-operative model that you have registered to the intra-op scene. The Transform matrix is the transformation supplied by whatever registration mechanism you've used (see for example the Point Based Registration plugin).
Beware: the plugin assumes you are using Data Sources and will only update the error number if it receives an update-timer-tick. Try adding "local frame grabber" if you have no other data source active.
Beware: the plugin assumes pair-wise correspondence between Fixed and Moving, so both have to have the same number of points!
